    Thank you very much
It has been written millions of times...

extract the zip, and flash ONLY the new kernel.img with the Flash tool included in the Riley ROM package.
    Do not press "erase IDB".
The apps will not be affected.

Dns also cant be changed from the root terminal emulator only from within the wifi setting app. I believe this is an issue with most kit kat roms due to new security settings in the kernel. I also have the custom low voltage kernel running on mine too. Its way better than 1.6.
can you please try capult king and see if it works didnt on 1.6? why would you use DNS?

        THANKS

This rom is simply fantastic. Now tablet is very fast and reactive.
Great job, Riley. I donate you some EUR.

"capult king" doesn't exist but a game called Catapult King works just fine on a Sumvision Voyager 2 9.7" running RileyROM 1.8.

I just flashed the kernel.img but when reboot the tablet remains on the Riley screen and does not go forward

I flashed the kernel v2 low voltage.

              sorry for my english

              thanks

I have flashed RR 1.8 KitKat with Claro kernel and my Pipo M6 Pro 3G works like a charm. Good job Randy and Giouncino.
But I can't watch movies using HBO GO application - everything seems to be fine, application starts, I select movie to watch and seems that the stream is loading but player (built-in application) does not start. I have had no problems with RR 1.6, application was restored from the Titanium backup, same with clean installation from Google Play. My HTC One with ICS has no issues with HBO GO app. Any suggetions?
One more thing - I have noticed lower drain of battery. Sounds very good for me. But I also noticed (since yesterday) that battery charging takes longer than before - from 50% to 68% took almost 3 hours and 8hrs left to complete charging. Really strange. Did you meet the same problem?

I think the problem is the player, not the kernel.
Try using another video player, MX player is one of the best in my opinion...

Well I finally got around to flashing 1.8 kitkat and it was easier than the manual outlined! Before I did this tablet I was upgrading a tvstick to finless 2.1 rom. My guess is: cause they are all rockchip, that must have eased the driver installation, cuz it was already installed! Then I just followed the rest of the steps in manual and was a breeze. I love RileyRom 1.8: the tablet bootup animation is awesome, fills the whole screen and looks spectacular! The performance is fast, the wi-fi now picks up my neighbors signal: it never did that before- are there somekind of better wifi drivers in this version? Everything is stable and fast and great battery life. The screen resolution looks a little smaller: as less space for icons, but with all the other pluses I did not care.

Now here is a huge plus, the playstore supports all my purchases: no more not compatible with this device! Before I would have to modify things to get that to work. I literally had the tablet back up and running with all my apps in minutes!

The only difference that happened with kitkat, is I had a game Man of Steele worked with Riley rom Jellybean, but does not work with Riley rom Kit kat. That was disappointing but all my other games and apps work and its faster so I can live with it. I emailed the company, maybe there is a fix for kit kat users?

Does anyone know how to get a 64gb microsdhc chip to work with this rom, it worked fine with RileyRom 1.6; but not with this one: I suspect Kit Kat changed something in handling ext sd cards?

                        Thanks

                        Ray...
Well I solved the 64 gb chip problem by reformatting to fat 32 with 32 byte cluster, now it works great!

                        Ray...

Thanks giouncino. Yes, I use MX Player all the time but HBO GO app has its own player and I cannot change it. As I wrote it was working with RR1.6 JB, my HTC One JCS, but it is not working with KitKat. Now I'm quite sure that HBO GO app is not compatible with KitKat. Think I have to wait for the new release.
Most important problem for me is the battery strange behaviour - I have charger disconnected 2 hrs ago and still shows me 68%

You probably have a problem with the charger. I've already seen this behaviour.
I suggest you to buy another one.

Try charging from off condition...(I think it will not help if the problem is the charger)

Yeah changing the charger solved a customers problem simliar to yours too.

I tried the low power kernel, while it was so easy to flash, it was scary cuz tablet kept hanging on rileyrom fireman badge logo, and had the hardest time getting the tablet back to flash mode, but when I did I unchecked all the boxes except kernel (renamed low power kernel to backup and use default kernel) then flashed. Its working good now. Did I do the proper procedure to restore it?

                              Ray...

Ok, I will contact my Pipo seller regarding charger replacement. Thank you.
