Possible, but to be sure flash the stock rom!
its strange because when i had mine(already gone) it dint overheated, idle was always between 45 and 49cº at usage max at 60ºc to 63ºc (my testers also) so is puzzling...

Try stock rom and see if it does the same(i bet it will)
It's the design of the box I think. If you open it up, mine has a white spongy block between the heatsink and a metal plate on the top of the case... There is nothing for the wifi chip.

I have found that the box heats up fast while streaming anything be it in kodi, the browser, or any other a app. It takes longer to heat up if all you are doing is watching something local off a hard drive or something.

Yes it should, however even running it with no lid on, it still heats up fast. I am thinking it needs a fan on top.

I unable to remove the board to see about removing the grating on the bottom to open up the vents on the bottom a bit better.

Thanks! That would probably explain why I couldn't get a 64bit version to build!

i tested this rom, hoping the bluetooth will work with my mouse and keyboard....no luck there, i blame android 6
vnc also not working with l2tp psk....i blame android 6
network connection through ethernet does have better bandwidth, by 20-30%.
this rom feels snappier than stock

but, loosing the navigation bottom menu which i see as a must have, i reverted to stock rom.
something else, i did not manage to make hbo go run on ethernet on this rom, although on stock it did (same xposed framework involved)...i wonder why?

there was a request for ethernet up/down button on this thread; a simple solution is to install quick terminal apk which has an option to use own commands for that, such us ifconfig eth0 up/down

although i did not see an advantage (highs/lows<1 for me) in using this rom it is very nice to have an alternative! thank you superceleron.

I restore superceleron ROM without any extra apps: same temp 60-65 °C at idle
I restore Stock Rom : Idem. 60-65°C at idle

I open the box. Motherboard outside the box. 57°C at idle. It's still pretty hot !

I see the white foam between CPU and heatsink as described by batkinson001. I think that this foam not doing his job correctly.

Yes looks like the foam must have air between the 2... or simple sucks...

To me, foam is an INSULATOR. Completely opposite of conducting heat away.

I think that he is referring to the thermal pad. Yes it is huge and much thicker than typical but still a thermal pad.
