I have installed several different live wallpapers.
They install without errors and come up in the wall paper picker for selection but when I click on them I get "app not installed" error.
    Anyone else getting this???
Perhaps, Magendaz can make a zip ( twrp flashable) so that we can use live wallpapers ?
    Thank you

I'll put it on my To Do list, but it might take a while to get to it. There are many more important items in the queue.

    I understand Mag. Thank you

Is this rom better in terms of stability and speed compared to your previous version V0619?
        Thanks for your great job!!!

Honestly, I haven't noticed that performance is any different. Both are pretty smooth.

It's just for the L version, right?

Nope, this is for the M8S Pro. There's are separate releases for the M8S Pro L dated 20171115. Both are based on the same firmware M8S Pro L release, but use different bootloaders. (The hardware is almost identical.)

Mag, would you advise me how to enable 1080p in Netflix with your V619 Nano? I have premium subscription and I did side-load the last netflix.apk , but it seems I am limited to 512p....

I don't believe that's possible on non-ATV platforms without modifications to the Netflix APK. There are others here who are much more knowledgeable on the nuances of Netflix, though, since I don't have a subscription.

Hi Magedanz! I successfully migrated to your latest Stock Variant OTA update. Could you please advise me how can I update any future OTA firmware, since there are no Update app anymore. Thanks and best regards.

In the next release, you'll just go to Settings->About->System update. (I built this yesterday.) For now, though, you've still got to reboot to TWRP recovery and install it there.

Thank you for your prompt response, Magendanz. Does it mean that we can have real OTA support and where will be hosted the updates. I have installed as well the Official TWRP App and in case future OTA release in zip format, I need just to go -> TWRP Flash -> Select a file to flash.. ? Do I need to make again data wipe, together with the update. If I want to test future OTA update from Mecool, to assume using the same method with TWRP app. Apologies for my lack of knowledge in the field. Thanks

Well, all of my custom ROM updates will include the latest TWRP for that device, which I build myself using the latest device kernel from stock recovery. Generally, you'll only need a data wipe for major upgrades, such as changing Android versions or variants (Android TV vs. non-ATV). The nice thing is that you can first try it without, then if things seem fishy just do the factory reset later from Settings.

Also, the new updated app includes a Backup and Restore feature, in case you need to do a data wipe.

I managed to get Netflix to work in 1080p after I switched to AndroidTV apk, but now it looks like this....:

Any ideas how to make it on full screen without the grey area at the bottom?

Did you try hiding the navigation bar?

Would you mind telling me how to do that? Sorry, I am quite new...

It's in Settings->Display->Statusbar, I believe. Will only be available on the non-ATV variants (Nano & Stock).

Tried it- nothing happens.. I just hitted OFF several times but there is still status bar at the top (clock, connected devices etc) and still the grey line at the bottom in Netflix.
May be I should change to your TVStock Rom?

        EDIT:

OK, got it. It was OFF actually, so that wasn't the problem...
May be I really have to flash your TVStock version...

Yes, it's really named incorrectly. The "Statusbar" setting doesn't control the status bar, but the navigation bar at the bottom. And as I point out in the release notes, it's a bit flaky.

If Netflix playback is your main usage, then the TVStock variant will probably be more to your liking and generally tends to work more seamlessly with Netflix when downloaded directly from the Google Play Store. Not everyone is an Android TV fan, though.

Thanks so much for your help!
So you are saying if I use my box mainly for Kodi and Netflix - TVStock is my best bet?

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Google designed Android TV to be used from a distance with a remote control (what we call the 10-foot UI), and for the most part I think they succeeded. It's not perfect, but it is a hell of a lot more polished than what most Chinese OEMs are shipping as their default launchers.

The non-ATV variants (Nano & Stock) are really more designed for use with a mouse and keyboard.

        Great to hear this!

I'm a little bit confused about how root is setup / enabled on these roms?
Usually if a rom is rooted you have something like SuperSU installed???

If you're smart, you do. SuperSU allows you to control which apps use root permissions so that a malicious app can't wreak havoc on your system. It's not required to root the device, though.

A second bug i discovered in nano rom ( 1st is , you cannnot install live wallpares), is that you cannot use the "teamviewer app" . To be more specific, you can control your mobile from the box but you cannot control the box with your phone/tablet.
