This is my first post here and I am a total newbie to Android tablets and of course to playing with ROMs & kernels. Before I flash my new M6Pro with this ROM (which, all going well, will be followed by trying some new kernels) I would like to say and ask the following:

Firstly a huge thanks to Randy and giouncino and everyone who has helped them in any way to produce these alternatives for the M6Pro. Finding this thread and seeing the work & dedication from you all is what gave me the confidence to jump in and buy a Chinese tablet. You guys are just amazing!

Thanks also for the amount of info and instruction you provide - again I would never consider doing something like this without it.

One thing I am currently not sure about is how to dump or where to download the stock ROM for my tablet. I have tried to dump the stock ROM with the Rom Dumper Tool (2.1) included in the RR1.8 zip but have not succeeded. When I open the tool it says "Found One MSC Device" at the bottom which I thought looked positive. When I tried to dump the Parameter file however I get an alert that says "Match device type failed, stop running!". I know the instructions provided say this tool has been tested on several tablets and the M6Pro is not listed but should it work? If so am I doing something wrong? I have my tablet connected to my W7 laptop via USB2 (using Pipo cable), USB storage mode not turned on. I have not put the tablet in flash mode as there is nothing mentioned about that.

I have downloaded the RR1.6.1 ROM which I would want to use if I was to decide to go back to JB anyway, I would just like to have the stock ROM somewhere just in case...

Any help/suggestions will be most apreciated. I just hope I haven't already made a fool of myself by missing something obvious that's been said a hundred times before here!

    Cheers,

    Lee

      Ciao giouncino,
I hope you can compile a kernel with a working 3G module! That would be great!!!!

all kernels have the 3G working module, EXCEPT the ones with RAM set to 720Mhz.

          Yeah! It works! Great!
Now, I've another problem (I had the same problem with RileyROM 1.6): I have phantom touches when I use the 3G module! This makes my tablet unusable!!! If I remove the SIM card then the tablet works perfectly!
How can I change the sensitivity of the touch display? I hope I can solve this by decrease the touch sensitivity.

          Thank you!

If you have any issue with a kernel, it is only necessary to flash another kernel over that one, no need to reflash the entire ROM!

Probably these new kernels generated from new source files should have some issue with chrome browser...
Tomorrow I will install it and check.
In the meantime I can generate new versions from old sources (from stock 1.8 kernels) to have 3G working and mod kernels only for frequency and voltages!
I just cant get this... All new kernels are crashing, with dolphin and chrome. It takes 10-120mins between shutdowns. But they occur, with all kernels i've tried.
Old claro was extemely stable, 0 crashes in last couple months.

That happened to me too when I soldered another 3G antenna instead of the stock one.
Probably there is a shortcircuit on 3G antenna. You can try to open the tablet and re-soldering it again.

And more: navionics hd app is stopping. So, back to old ones, with stock libril...

Sorry, navionics seems to be stopping with all kernels now, I don't know why...
But not because of kernel, I assume.

After installing this ROM my tablet is rebooting in every 5 minutes.

About this... First of all, mobile network at my home is s..t. Thus, testing 3g here is bit difficult.
But, I have now tried few several kernels, only that gets any connection here is old claro 720. That also gives better fix for gps than these new ones. It took 10mins to get 120ft accuracy, when old claro+stock libril does it in 2! I am using 1325/648 at the moment, and this seems to be only stable one for me now.
I also suffer with navionics hd app, but it has done that before. Actually, same issue when i installed KK for the first time. Annoying is, that I should be using it next week...

If I understood well you are telling the exact opposite of all the others??
New kernels have better GPS and better 3G (except 720Mhz for RAM). For you is not true... Are you sure of the kernel you are using?
                        I'm a bit confused...

All of them chrash within few minutes of usage. Most of them give less 3G than my setup now. Most of them have slower fix in GPS than my setup now.
                              So, I am back to
                              kernel_kitkat_1.8_cpu1704h_1325mV_gpu600h STOCK_ddr720_Claro
+ stock libril to enable 3G. No chrashes at all...
