Is it possible to extract the codecs from this unit and put it in the TX5 Pro? Like extracting the default videoplayer from the Mi Box?

I have seen that the Frankenstein mod for TX5 Pro has some kind of AC3 Passthrough fix. Is this an AC3 fix (for fixing no sound via the 3,5mm output) or a passthrough fix to fix problems with AC3 audio via Kodi and HDMI sound?
I have been looking into using the codecs from one box and add to another but nor finding anything useful. Does the ac3 audio work with plex on the mi box? I keep finding people say ac3 audio doesnt work with plex. And others say its the 5.1 ac3 isnt supported. One said he re encoded the audio to 2.1 and it works.

Now I have done some more testing. If I plug in the speakers to the TV instead of directly to the TX5 Pro I get working sound with AC3-audio in Plex! That means it does work with Passthrough, but whats weird is that AC3 doesn't work at all when the speakers are connected to the TX5 Pro, but everything else does.
I can actually use it as it is now. But I cannot control the volume when it is AC3, the volume slider in Android does nothing to AC3 audio (but works on everything else).
      Why is that?

Just thought I'd let you know there's now an official Plex add on for Kodi if you wanted to try that to see if it fixes your audio issue with the nice UI of the Plex app

Thank you, will test that to check if there is any difference!

I have a weird problem I found today. When using normal apps as Tasker and Titanium backup, the buttons from the top bar on the screen is missing. Like in Tasker I cannot accept the disclaimer and move on. And in Titanium backup the checkmark to perform actions is gone. It looks like it is the same in every standard Android-app which uses the top bar for action buttons. The bar itself is visible. But no buttons?

          What can I do?

Im not fully sure, i think the reason for android not controlling ac3 is cause in passthrough the tv is handling the sound not android.

If anyone knows how to extract codecs from firmware to add to another, let me me know and ill try it with this box. If i find i way ill let you know.

Had a look on their site but what's the purpose of CloudTV? Is it an IPTV service or something?

I've followed the instructions found on this forum, but still can't manage to update my tx5 pro, not to the 20160813 nor to the 20160909 version.

So, I've copied the 3 files to the root of a fat32 formatted sd card, and used the backup/update app. But in both updates, the system hangs in the android dummy. After pulling the plug, the systems boots to the 20160805 version.

What can I be doing wrong?

When I first bought the box, I was able to update it to the 20160805 version, using usb burning tool and an .img file. But this time around, using the backup/update app, I haven't been successful.

                        Any suggestions? Thank you guys.

                        Nuno.

                          1. Take out the SD Card from the slot
                          2. Boot into recovery. I'm using one of the apps like Quick Reboot (root)
                          3. In recovery make wipe (factory reset)
                          4. Reboot system
                          5. Put the SD back to device.
                          6. Flash 20160813 with Backup/Update app and wait for system reboot
                          7. Update to 20160811 with Backup/Update app

If this still won't work try using different SD Card.

Thank you very much yatoya. Eventually it came down to the SD card... An almost full frustating weekend before the post. Kudos to you.

Hello to all boys, I would use this box to read from a dlna server via some excellent Android app, that already 'default does not satisfy me in full in its operation, I tried plex but with the remote control Mother and' impossible to manage it ... . I await your advice.
