Fingers crossed HD audio is added later, I only use optical out when when I change the AVR I'd like HD audio supported.

Hi guys, finally i made it. I tried many settings and i succeeded with DTS-HD. I changed the settings in Android for the audio output. I set it to PCM (instead of HDMI or Optical). No logic but happened. Also if i turn on the H96 unit first and then the receiver i do not see the HD-MA and Dolby True HD. First power on the receiver and then the unit. I use HDMI cable instead of optical. Please try this and it should work. Use Kodi 17.6 as FTMC is based on Kodi 16 and it will not work.

Is the H96 doing the decoding onboard, then sending multi-channel PCM over HDMI? Because with HDMI you can do this, the player or the AVR can do the HD decoding.

No, the receiver makes the decoding. I set it to auto detecting the signal - and as soon as i play the video - it switches and shows the DTS-HD MA signal coming.

Is there some special way to change the launcher on this ROM? I'd like to use Nova but every time I open it it crashes instantly. I tried going to the Home app in settings and changing the default to Nova there but I get the same result, it crashes instantly.

Talking of which a few other movies are pixelly, blocky corruption. Some others are fine.

That is normal, they are H264 10bits... this chip dont support hw decode of H264 10bits, the max is can decode correctly is low bitrate 720p 10bits.

Yes really, it can only decode in software mode..
But it decodes just fine H265 10bits up to 4k(HEVC) in hw mode!

If you use KODI and turn off hardware acceleration then the picture is good.
Could it be a buggy video driver in this firmware?
